Obituary
George Kinlock Moseley, 85, of Friendswood, TX, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born December 08, 1931 in New York City, NY to George Kinlock Moseley and Dorothy Christina Heinbockel Moseley.
George grew up in Hillsdale, New Jersey where he went to grammar school. He lost his dad when he was 10 years old and his sister Joan was 7 years old. Their mother then moved them to Westwood, NJ where George went to high school. His mother always insisted they go to college and he received a scholarship in 1949 to attend Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1955. During his time in college he honorably served on active duty in the Army Reserves from September 1950 until August of 1952 as Private First Class. One of his most memorable travels while serving in the army was being stationed for training at the U S European Command Army Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. While stationed in Camp Polk, LA for Cooking Class he met his wife Betty Jean “Becky” Broussard and they married the following year on 11-28-1952. They lived in Evansville, Indiana while he finished college and worked as Pharmacy manager for Woods Drugstore from 1955 to 1959. Their first son George Keith Moseley was born on April 21, 1959. They moved to Pasadena, TX in 1960 where he worked for Armstrong and Piggly Wiggly Pharmacies until he took over the ownership of Green’s Pharmacy in Pasadena in 1963. It was a popular place for many to come each day and enjoy the old timey fountain where the employees said it felt like home away from home. He became a member of the Greater Pasadena of Commerce soon after taking over the new business and in 1969 became the owner. Their daughter Karen was born on May 16, 1964. George sold the business in 1991 and worked for shortly for Eckerd’s and then Randall’s Pharmacy’s before retiring in 2000.
George’s wife Becky passed away in March of 2013 and he immediately move in with his son George “Keith” Moseley, who was also a Pharmacist and his daughter-in-law Pattie in Friendswood, TX until he moved into the Park Manor South Belt Nursing home in 2015 nearby in Houston, TX until his death. He made many friends at the nursing home and brought many hope and happiness to each new day. He enjoyed sitting on their front porch greeting folks with his music box full of his favorite western songs, and folks still ask about him often.
George was active in sports when he was younger, he was certified as a Life Boy Scout, and loved to hunt and fish. George enjoyed playing bridge with his wife and their friends, and occasionally went dancing at their local Elks Lodge. He also had a lake house on Toledo Bend Reservoir, TX for several years where his family enjoyed vacationing and boating. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.
George is survived by: his sister Joan Schappert of East Greenwich, RI; his daughter Karen Camille and her husband Charles “Bo” Seals of Houston, TX; with 3 grandchildren: Travis Keith Moseley, Erika Camille Seals & Eric Charles Seals.
He was preceded in death by his father George, and mother Dorothy (5/14/1905 – 4/09/1986); his wife Becky (8/05/1927 – 3/31/2013); and his son George “Keith” Moseley (4/21/1959 – 8/14/2016).
