Kathryn McMurphy Obituary

Kathryn June McMurphy passed away January 4, 2017 from stroke complications. Kathryn was born on April 9, 1934 to W.A. & Juliette McMurphy, both whom preceded her in death.

Kathryn was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, OK and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for more than 35 years. After retiring in the 90's, she enjoyed antiquing, hunting for treasures at estate sales, attending Red Earth, and the OKC Festival of the Arts. Everyone who knew Kathryn remembers her as a friend of Mother Nature, and all animals, especially her cats & Yorkies.

She has been a resident of Dorset Place (formerly Sterling House) on N.W. 122nd St. for the last four years. Her family is extremely grateful for the attention & care the staff showed Kathryn.

Survivors include brother, A.W. (Mac) McMurphy; niece & husband, Christy & Mike Favors; nephew & wife, Brett & Susan McMurphy; great nephews & niece, Brett Parrett, Cody Favors, Chesney McMurphy; & great-great nephew, Trystan Williams.

Kathryn will lie in state on Monday, January 9, 2017, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Ext., Oklahoma City, OK. Those wishing to donate in Kathryn's memory, please consider Free to Live Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 5884, Edmond, OK 73083, or the Bella Foundation, PO BOX 20035, Oklahoma City, OK 73156. Please include her name if mailing a check.
