Gaston Ellrette Woodson, 81, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born on February 3, 1935 to William Mosalan Woodson and Lillie Alverdie Laprarie Woodson. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a life long Deacon serving several churches. He was a retired police officer with the Greenville, Miss Police Dept. and a retired security officer with Renasant Bank. He served his country as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Browning Funeral Home with Bro. Melvin Crawley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Preceded in death by his parents, William & Alverdie Woodson; sister, Addalean Beaubouef.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Bigelow Woodson; his daughters, Dee Chapman (Bob Jr.), Dana Davis (Ron) and Shannon Walker (Joey); 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Regina Casto (Joe) and Ella Louise Woodson; and a brother, William Woodson, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Chad Chapman, Drew Chapman, Will Chapman, Ron Davis, Joey Walker and Jacob Long. Honorary pallbearer will be Bob Chapman Jr.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home.
