Albert Decker Obituary

Albert Decker, 84, of Locust Grove, GA, formerly of Smyrna, GA, Cincinnati, OH, and Somerset, KY, passed away Fri., Jan. 13, 2017, after a battle with cancer.



Albert was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Somerset, KY, the youngest child of Teddy Columbus Decker and Nora Cordelia Whitaker Decker. He graduated from Somerset H.S. in 1951. He was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army, 25th Div., serving in the Korean War, where he was a rifleman and base cook. After the Army, Albert married his H.S. sweetheart Edna Jane Jasper, daughter of Ernest and Lola Jasper, on Apr. 16, 1955, to whom he was married 52 years. They had four children. During his lifetime, Albert worked as a Maintenance Director for Mason Dixon Truck Lines, a truck driver and truck mechanic. He was an avid storyteller and painter, a devoted husband, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.



Preceding him in death are his parents, Teddy C. and Nora Decker; wife, Edna J. Decker; and eleven siblings, Bonnie Roy, Guy Decker, Emma Pierce, Homer Decker, Dotty Dunbar, Sibyl Jessick, Quinton Decker, Dora Decker, Delno Decker, Pauline Decker, and Andy Decker.



Survivors include daughter, Julie Nichols, Douglasville, GA; son, Ted (Ann) Decker, Locust Grove, GA; son, Ernest Decker, Kennesaw, GA; son, Garry (Vicky) Decker, Pace, FL; eight grandchildren, Michael Mauldin, Mandie Mauldin, Lisa Mabrey, Tammy Hortman, Anna Marks, Jessica Sellers, Victoria Cox, and Taylor Ruch; and nine great-grandchildren, Lexi, Sadie, Harper, Bronson, Cameron, Nora, Billy, Seren, and Harley.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, http://www.curealz.org/ or 781-237-3800, in memory of Albert and Edna Decker.



Visitation at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, GA on Monday, January 16, 2017- 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.



Visitation is at West Cobb Funeral Home, Marietta, GA, Jan. 16, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, KY, Jan. 18, 2017, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.



Funeral services will be at Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, Jan. 18, 2017, 1:00 PM. Burial will be at the Decker Family Cemetery in Somerset.
