Services for Wendell L. "Buddy" Baker, 73, of Lufkin, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, 1515 S. Chestnut, Lufkin, TX 75901. Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery in Huntington.
Mr. Baker was born on February 4, 1943 in Huntington, Texas and passed away January 12, 2017 in Westlake, Ohio.
Buddy spent most of his life working in the logging industry and stump grinding. He was a member of the Texas National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and all things outdoors.
He is the beloved father of Renee Fox (Justin) and Wendy Weitzel (Keith) and cherished grandpa to Ryan Fox, Hunter Fox, Brock Schill, Joey Schill, Raven Steve and Theo Steve. He will also be missed by his neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, nephew, father, mother and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Joe Schill, Brock Schill, Ryan Fox, Hunter Fox, Theo Steve and Manuel Rodriguez.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association of Greater East Texas, 304 N. Raguet Street, Suite C, Lufkin, TX 75904.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Gipson Funeral Home.

a friend to many. As was stated at his service today, he would give you the
shirt off his back. He was always happy. His family was very important to him.
