Gerald (Jerry) Hartenstine, 98, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown Pa, passed away on January 22, 2017. Jerry received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy after serving two years as a radio operator on the Battleship USS Texas, during World War II. He was a Mason for 48 years at The Stichter Masonic Lodge #254 in Pottstown.
He was formerly from Pottstown and Boyertown. Jerry was employed by Drug Plastics & Glass Company in Boyertown, as a salesman selling plastic pharmaceutical bottles.
He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Marie Lavinia Hartenstine. Surviving are two sons, Dennis and Jeanette, of Boynton Beach, Florida; and Robert and Pat, also of Boynton Beach, Florida; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Linwood W Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at the funeral home. Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512.
