John L. Wyatt, 87, of Valrico, Florida formerly of Ft. Wayne passed away peacefully on January 19, 2017. He was born November 16, 1929; the second son of the late Nathaniel Kenneth and Ilo Cecil Wyatt, John was raised in Ft. Wayne. Mr. Wyatt was a graduate of Central High School. He retired from the Post Office after 30 years of service. He was a Korean War Veteran, having served with the United States Army 1951-52. During his life John participated in many activities including Meals on Wheels in Hillsborough County, The Strawberry Ridge Singers, he was a 61 year member of Wayne Lodge F&AM #25; Past Associate Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters International Bethel #8; Past Watchman of Shepherds Faith Shrine #29; Past Sponsor of the Indiana State Association White Shrine of Jerusalem; member of Hope Presbyterian Church, Valrico, Florida. In 1961 John married Catherine M. (Sherwood) Wyatt, who survives and they had four children; son, Steven J. Wyatt; daughters, Shari L. Wyatt, Beth Ann M. Wyatt and Linda K. (Rick) Uptgraft. He is also survived by his sister, Vancha L. Collins. John was also a loving Grandparent to three granddaughters, one grandson, one great grandson, and two great granddaughters; and a loving uncle to 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, William "Billy" Wyatt. Services will be held at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46809 at 1:30 on Saturday, January 28 with calling beginning at 11:00 a.m. Masonic services will be at 1:00 p.m. with Memorial Service for Job's Daughter to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Honor Flight of Indiana or Florida; Valrico Florida Meals on Wheels; or Hope Presbyterian Church.
