Leona B. Holt (“Nonie”) was born on March 18, 1916, and grew up on a farm in Albia, Iowa. After moving to Washington, DC, to help her sister with a new son, she met Allan T. Holt (“Tippy”). They were married in 1940. Nonie worked in retail sales in Washington, DC, until her retirement.
In 1952 Nonie and Tippy moved to Fairfax, Virginia, where they joined Christ Lutheran Church. Nonie was an active church member, participating in the Altar Guild and offering babysitting services for the pastor’s son. After Tippy’s death in 1998, church members became Nonie’s family, and they surrounded her with love throughout the final years of her life. Nonie's wisdom and deep faith were an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
Nonie passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by two nephews, a niece, and many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfax City on Friday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held before the service, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. The interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nonie’s memory to Christ Lutheran Church, 3810 Meredith Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030.

You brought joy and laughter each day. You spoke softly yet had a fabulous smile. So enjoyed bringing mail, gifts, floral and Christmas arrangements to you and share in your delight. You are so missed
