Lynda Blackmon Barger, 73, of Cary, NC, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2017.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Wake Memorial Park in Cary. Kathy Kirkpatrick of Massey's Chapel UMC will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 6pm – 8pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Apex Funeral Home.
Lynda was born on September 10, 1943. She graduated from Northwest High School and was in the first graduating nursing class of Forsyth Memorial Hospital (1964) and received a registered nursing degree.
Lynda met her husband Terry on a blind date. He was supposed to pick up another girl, who feigned illness, and asked Lynda to go in her place. Lynda agreed, but only if she liked what he looked like. They were married on April 4, 1964 and were married 52 years.
Lynda enjoyed knitting and was an avid Bridge player. She also liked watching sports, including PGA golf and the NFL. Whenever she watched TV or took a nap, her schnauzer Leo would always be close by. Her granddaughter Sophie was the apple of her eye.
Lynda is survived by her husband Terry; daughter Julie (Michael) and son David (Lindsay); one grandchild, Sophie; one soon-to-be second grandchild; brother Jeff (Becky) and niece Jennifer, nephew Jeffrey and their spouses and children. Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, June A. Blackmon and Wilbur A. Blackmon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the N.C. Schnauzer Rescue.

Lynda was one of my "second Moms" growing up. Thinking about the Barger family brings back a lot of good memories, and wish them the best during this time.
