I am so sad that Tanner has died. I knew his work at MECA and then at Artist and Craftsman Supply where he worked after graduation. There, he was always my go-to-guy: bright and innovative and always quick to lend a hand or idea for a creative project. I watched his stamp project and ways he kept his practice going after art school and wished him all the best when he went back to Vermont. He is certainly gone too soon. Please know that in his short life, he touched many with his spirit and quick smile.

So sorry to hear this news. Tanner was a vital part of the Maine College of Art Printmaking Department and he is sadly missed by his colleagues and friends at MECA. Here are some remembrances from MECA friends: "Tanner's work was complex, idiosyncratic, thoughtful, and challenging. He communicated the importance of the hand-made in the digital age. Tanner embraced the most direct mark-making methods of print-carving and stamping to address design and repetition, how we see and don't see messages in our everyday visual field. Tanner worked as a teaching assistant in the Printmaking Department during his years at MECA. He continued to make art and prints, including his ongoing collaborative stamp series, exhibiting throughout New England. Tanner was a friend and collaborator to many and he will be deeply missed." "Tanner was a very creative person who demonstrated a great love for the process of his art making and the discovery of new sources of inspiration. As a friend and peer I saw him always pushing his boundaries, exploring deeper into his own art while staying enthusiastic and excited about other work around him."
