Barbara Stubblefield Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2017.

Barbara Stubblefield, age 84 of Colorado City passed away on February 6, 2017 after a long illness. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the 22nd and Austin Church of Christ with Brandon Denton and Royce Clay officiating. Burial will follow in the Stubblefield family plot in Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Barbara was born on August 28, 1932 in Wadsworth, Texas to Murray and Mary Louise Seerden. Her childhood was challenging. Her father's work caused the family to move several times a year. She lived in twenty-eight states but still managed to be an A+, straight A student. Her life changed after graduating from high school in Hobbs, New Mexico. She enrolled in college at Eastern New Mexico at Portallas. During her first year in college, she was elected "Sun Princess" and represented her college at a football game in El Paso. She married while in college at Eastern New Mexico. From this union, one son and daughter were born; Ronald and Cathy. This marriage ended and she met and married David C. Stubblefield on June 2, 1962 in Arlington, Texas.

Barbara was working as a legal secretary when she met David who was a salesman for I.B.M. Corp. in Midland, Texas. They lived there for seven years until David's transfer to Cheyenne, Wyoming. While there, she became active selling cosmetics for a Dallas based company. She took on the task as Director of this company and won several awards. She held sales meetings and recruited ladies to sell cosmetics. She continued this work for seven years until they moved to San Antonio. She then became a Real Estate Broker and was very successful in this business. She continued this business until they retired and moved to Colorado City in January of 2005.

Since January of 2006 Barbara had been mostly confined to her home due to multiple physical problems.

Those left to cherish Barbara's memory are her loving husband, David; one son, Ronald Christesson and wife Wendy of Horseshoe Bay; as well as four grandsons, Matthew, Corey, Chad, and John.
