MASON, Mrs. Alice Childress Christopher, 89, of Mechanicsville, Va., went to be with the Lord February 6, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edward Ray Mason; and daughter, Judy Ann Crews. She is survived by her granddaughter, Brandi Crews Butalewicz (Eddie); nieces, JoAnn Christopher Lane-Atkins (Rick), Donna Munson (Bobby); nephews, Phillip Christopher (Ann), R. Barry Christopher (Judy), Ralph (Chris) Christopher (Deborah); sister-in-law, Patricia Christopher; and devoted neighbors, Rodney and Tracy Brooks.
Alice retired from Liggett Meyers Tobacco Company. Alice will be greatly missed, but is at peace after a long illness. She will always be remembered fondly by her family, friends, doctors and nurses for her positive attitude, sense of humor, storytelling and caring/lively spirit.
Her celebration of Life will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 10, at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23116, with viewing for friends and extended family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 9, at the funeral home.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for our love ones lost in death can be reassuring.
