Arnold A. Roberts, 96, of Manchester, died February 6, 2017 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Manchester on May 24, 1920 the son of Joseph and Mabel (Valliere) Roberts and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City and attended local schools.
He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force serving during World War II. Following his discharge, he was employed for many years the production supervisor at the Knapp Shoe Company. An avid fly fisherman, Arnold was a longtime member of the Manchester Fly Fishers Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband father, grandfather and friend.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Veziris) Roberts in 2004 and by his son Gary Roberts and his daughter Sharon Roberts.
Members of his family include his daughter Joyce Smith of Manchester and his grandson Tyler Smith of Albany, NY as well as many nieces, nephews and fishing buddies.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service was celebrated on Friday February 10 at 10 am at St. Raphael Church 103 Walker St. in Manchester. Urn burial will be at a later date in the NH State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Arnold's name be made to the Manchester Fly Fishers Association. The family has entrusted the McHugh Funeral Home with his care.

Arnie was a great guy! On our many trips to Salmon River he would always give us his views on a lot of things! Most of all his fishing expertise was second to none. His most famous saying, Don't leave fish to find fish!! Thank you Arnie!

Sending our deepest sympathy. Worked with Arnold at Derry Shoe and went deer hunting with him many times also remember his Volkswagon bug. Many fond memories.
