92, Our mother, Jimmie Dicus, passed peacefully with family at her side February 11, 2017. She was born Dec. 15, 1924 in Rome, GA and was a resident of Tampa for the past 61 years. Jimmie was a member of the Summerset Social Club, the Crewe of Venus and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey O. Dicus, Sr. and her son, Gary A. Dicus. She was survived by her son Aubrey O. Dicus Jr. (Donna) , her daughter, Carol Dicus Burt, (David Sr.), her daughter-in- law, Debbie Dicus (Gary), her grandchildren, Leland Dicus, (Athena), Wesley Dicus (Natalie), Lindsay Dicus-Harrison (Brian), Allison Thompson (Nathan), Drew Dicus, Hillary Suarez (Benjamin), David Lane Burt Jr., Alex Burt and eight great grandchildren.
Mother raised her family in South Tampa as members of the Palma Ceia Methodist Church. With her inviting smile and gracious personality she was loved by many. But most especially, she was devoted to her children and grandchildren who loved her dearly. Unfortunately, because of the onset of dementia several years ago, her great grandchildren were able to see her warmth and her smile, but they were unable to experience the doting care that her children and grandchildren enjoyed.
We will miss her always but take respite in knowing that she led a full and giving life. Her family thanks the Abigail House and its staff for the loving care which Mother received. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jimmie's name to, Palma Ceia Untied Methodist Church, 3723 W Bay to Bay Blvd, Tampa, FL 33629.
She will be remembered at a private family service as was her desire.

Dear Leland...my prayers are with you and Athena for the loss of your grandmother. Athena and I worked together at Stewart Middle Magnet School and Athena was a very special/great teacher! May the Lord cover you both with His grace and give you peace and comfort. Sincerely Lynn McDaniel

So sorry to hear about Aunt Jimmie. I remember her visits to my grandmother's (Inez) house. And I especially remember our trip to stay with her in Tampa when we were kids. Love and hugs.

One of my earliest memories was Aunt Jimmie singing Happy Birthday to me in 1952 in Atlanta. She possessed a heart melting smile and a human decency which inspired all who came into contact with her. My sincere condolences to all the Dicus Clan.
