Marion A. French, 87, a resident of Winchester, NH, passed away at the Applewood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, NH on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, following a period of declining health.
She was born June 30, 1929 in Keene, NH the daughter of Leroy and Mary (Hildreth) Jordan. In 1964 she married the love of her life: Woodrow W. French. For many years she worked for Princess Shoes and later for People's Linen.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with, not only her own children but with others she welcomed into her family. When her grandson, Kaleb was younger she enjoyed spending time with him: watching old movies was one of their favorite past-times.
Her faith was the forefront of her life: being a devoted Jehovah's Witness who spent countless hours reading and studying various publications. She celebrated her baptism in 1942 at the Stone Arch Bridge on upper Court Street and was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Keene. In her youth, she boldly proclaimed the message of God's Kingdom, participating in demonstrations and marches: she even road in a Sound Car during a demonstration in the 1930's. Despite the persecution that she faced she continued to share the "good news" and proclaim her faith.
She is survived by her son: Eugene French of Keene, her daughter: Alice M. French of Winchester, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her stepdaughter: Arlene, numerous step-grandchildren, two brothers: Timothy and his wife Linda and Allen and his wife Mercy, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by four brothers: David, Kenneth, Phillip and Norman, her parents, her stepson: Reginald, her stepdaughter: Sharon and her husband.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 109 Old Homestead Hwy. Keene, NH. 03431. Daniel Fielders will be leading the memorial. There will be no public calling hours.
