James Richard "Rick" Whidby, 70, of Gadsden, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Opal Faye Whidby; children, James Brian Whidby and his wife Joyce Coty, Richard Duane Whidby and wife Darline, Williams Ray "Billy" Whidby and wife April and Danielle Whidby Parrish and husband A J; grandchildren, Owen Wade Whidby, Lori Whidby, Cody Whidby and Amber Whidby; great grandchildren, Gracie and Josh Whidby; brother, Dennis R. Whidby and wife Linda; sister, Debra McAlister and husband Johnny.
Rick was born on September 9, 1946 and retired as a truck driver.
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.

I am so sorry to hear this, I met you both at the nursing home, Richard was always so kind to me and so was you Faye. He always got on me for smoking, I will truly miss our talks, I thought alot of him. Prayers for your loss and my friend.

I met you first mrs, faye was in rehab you welcomed me into your family CALL ME Pops you said you told me that duane would hold to me and he has. You were the best father in law
A girl could have ask for but most of all thank you for teaching showing the boy you taught to be the a man that he is today you did a wonderful job with Duane , i love you pops and will be missed greatly
