Dahl, Ernest O. "Ernie", 84, of Janesville, WI, passed away on Feb. 21, 2017, at Mountain Vista Hospital, Mesa, AZ, after complications from surgery. Ernie was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Whitehall, WI, to Oscar and Myrtle (Berg) Dahl. After graduating from high school, Ernie joined the Army and served during the Korean War, and was stationed in Germany, from 1952 – 1954. He married Sherrill Semingson, of Eleva, WI, in Feb. 1956 at the Eleva Lutheran Church. They have 5 daughters.
Ernie drove 36 years for Janesville Auto Transport (JATCO) from 1957 until his retirement as number one driver in 1993. Ernie was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and a member of Teamsters Local 579. Ernie loved fishing with his buddy Marv and grandson Aaron. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, putting his puzzles together and dancing. He enjoyed spending his winters in Mesa, AZ and going to his trailer on the Mississippi in the summer. Ernie was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Wisconsin Badger and Milwaukee Brewer fan. His greatest love was for his wife and family.
Ernie is survived by his wife Sherrill of 61 years; daughters, Dawn (Rick Cook) Schlegel, Kris (Denis) Flynn, Lori (Kevin) Jelinek, Teri Curtis, all of Janesville, WI, and Sandi (Andrew Fry) Dahl of New Lisbon, WI; by grandchildren Jessica (Jason) Schlegel-Guernsey, Heather Jelinek, Nicholas (Courtney) Schlegel, Melissa (Tawaun) Cates, Adam Jelinek, Mandi Jelinek, Tyler (Lauren Babcock) Curtis and Shae Weir; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson soon to be born; sisters Edith Amundson, of Osseo, WI, Arline Stuve, of Pleasantville, WI, and Gladys Sibley of Coon Valley, WI. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Sielaff, brothers Charles and Russell Dahl, by grandson Aaron Curtis and ex son-in-law, Sean Sheidy.
