Avis Harless Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2017.

Avis Luzelle Harless (Lou), 91 years old of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, took her first breath in heaven on February 25, 2017 in Edmond, Oklahoma

Lou was born November 24, 1925 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Hazel & Louie Overton Young. Raised in western Oklahoma with her six siblings, Joy, Pauline, Fra, Teresa, June & Wilma Jean. Her relationship with parents, brothers and sisters was a very special one and we rejoice in the fact she is now in heaven laughing and singing with them. She was married to Joe Harless for 31 years and spent most of her adult life in Oklahoma City as a homemaker. Lou also worked and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration. She was a member of Cherokee Hills Church of Christ and her faith was the foundation of her life.

The greatest love and joy in life were her children & grandchildren. Her devotion to them was unmeasured and her personality is visible in each of them. Lou will be remembered for her compassion, her unselfish and giving nature, but even more so for her feisty personality & quick wit which was evident until the end.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her six siblings, and her husband. She is survived by her son Mike McClellan, and daughters DeAnna Korte married to Joey and Kelly Hague married to Matt, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. A private family burial will be held on Monday, February 27. In lieu of flowers and in the spirit of Lou's compassion and love for all, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
