Mr. Selby Gene Lea, age 78 of Ridgeway, died on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Salem, Va. after a decline in health.
Mr. Lea was born on November 23, 1938 in Henry County, Va., a son of the late Selby James Lea and the late Agnes Odell Lea. He had lived his earlier life in Eden, N.C. and had lived most of his adult life in Ridgeway, Va. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed for many years at Ridgeway Clocks as a supervisor.
Mr. Lea is survived by two daughters, Dana Lea Spencer and husband, Fred of Eden, N.C., Cathy Lea Hundley and husband, Dennis of Ruffin, N.C., four grandchildren, Ronnie James Hundley, Ashley Nicole Hundley, Travis Lea Jones, Jade Marae Bowling, two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Benny Mason Lea. Mr. Lea is also survived by his fiancee, Donna Ferguson of Ridgeway, Va.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Community Funeral Services Chapel. Military Rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard of Martinsville-Henry County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Disable American Veterans, NSO 4575, 210 Franklin Road, SW, Room 808, Roanoke, Va. 24011-2209 or to the charity of your choice
