LEWISTON: Lorraine C. Additon, 90, formerly of Auburn passed away peacefully at Montello Manor in Lewiston on Monday February 27, 2017 with her family at her side. She was born in Auburn on July 2, 1926 a daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Williams) Cooper. She grew up in the Auburn area and attended local schools there. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School. After high school, Lorraine worked locally as a secretary. During that time she married Sewall Additon on January 1, 1948 at the Lewiston Baptist Church and the two started a family together. While raising her family, she also worked as a Nanny for over 40 years tending to the wants and needs of many children as well as her own children and grandchildren until she retired. Even then, she would still offer her services to those in need. Lorraine was a past member of the 4H Club as well as the Extension Service of Androscoggin through the Dept. of Agriculture, the Court St. Baptist Church Ladies Circle and the East Auburn Grange. Her passions included knitting, crocheting and camping with her friends, especially at The Little Ponderosa in Boothbay Harbor and Reid State Park. She is survived by her two children; Carol Aldrich and her husband Charles of St. Johnsbury, VT and Robert Additon and his wife Brenda of Auburn. She also leaves behind a brother, David Cooper of Auburn as well as 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 9 great-greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Sewall Additon in 2000, a sister, Barbara Steele and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lorraine Sylvain. Visiting hours will be held at Fortin\Auburn on Friday March 3, 2017 from 7-9pm. A funeral service followed by interment will take place on Saturday March 4, 2017 at 10am in the Chapman Room located at Gracelawn Memorial Park 980 Turner St. Auburn, ME 04210.
