Juanita Carole Schreuders, 85, of San Diego, California, passed away on March 4th at Scripps Memorial Hospital. Nita is preceded in death by her parents Peter and Mamie (McCluskey) Schreuders, her sister Virginia (Schreuders) Maving, and her half brother Emery E. Schreuders Hyde. She is survived by her husband, Francis Joseph McGuire, and her daughter Marla McGuire, who had both been by her side during her last few days. Nita was born April 16th, 1931 in Tacoma Washington to Peter and Mamie Schreuders. She went to High School at Stadium High and graduated in 1948 at age 17. She went on to earn a degree in Education with a Music minor from Washington State University. She taught Elementary school in Del Mar for seven years. She was a proud member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) As a detail orientated and curious person, she painstakingly researched and documented the genealogy of her family. In addition, Joe and Nita had a fantastic trip to Ireland where she continued to research his side of the family. She enjoyed the entertainment arts tremendously and had season tickets to La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, and Starlight opera as well as being a part of a movie group. Nita was quick witted and the household champion of “Jeopardy.” She loved dachshunds, especially her daughter’s dog Riley. The Memorial service will be held on March 11th at 10:00 AM at University City United Church. Relatives and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation at arthritis.org or to the Arthritis Foundation National Office, 1355 Peachtree St. NE Suite 600, Atlanta, GA. 30309
