Idamae Genusa passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 days before her 75th birthday on March 12. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Genusa Jr for 56 years; mother and mother-in-law of Melissa and Paul Sosnicki, Cindy and Rudy Gautreaux, Dottie and Tripp Rabalais, and the late Tina Genusa Charlet; daughter of the late Edmond and Dorothy Rogers; daughter-in-law of the late Joseph and Mary Genusa; grandmother of Sammy Charlet, Jr. (Nicole), Christopher Rabalais (Marissa), Mindy Gautreaux, Miranda Bordelon (Philip), and Cory Rabalais; great grandmother of Chassidy, Haidyn, Sailor, Bailyn and Mabel; sister of Carlton Rogers and Annette Rogers, as well as the late Genevieve Turner; and aunt of numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She worked in the child nutrition department of Jefferson Parish Schools for ten years, owned her own businesses, cared for her family, and loved working in her garden, especially her flowers. She will be remembered for her homemade fig cookies, as well as all her cooking.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Park Cemetery in Gretna. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
