Hershel Harold Williams, 83, dearly loved husband, father, and friend went to be with his heavenly father at approximately 9:27 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born June 8, 1933, he was the son of Dramon and Eula Belue Williams. Harold is a 1954 graduate of Thrasher High School and served his country during the Korean War. Upon completing his deployment, he returned to Thrasher where he lived and raised his family. He served as a deacon at both Thrasher and Gaston Baptist Churches respectively.
A celebration of life will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Gaston Baptist Church with Bro. Dallas Vandiver, Dr. Matt Brown, Bro. Stanley Huddleston and Mr. Gene Gifford officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of McMillan Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha Inman Williams; four daughters, Linda (Gary) Johnson, Margaret (Bill) Buse, Brenda Williams, and Tammy (Scott) Chase; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandon) Harwood, Stephanie (Luke) VanWinkle, Barrett (Dianna) Rowsey, Mark Johnson, Emily (Dallas) Vandiver, Holly Brooke Chase, Williams Chase; and eight great grandchildren, Lily Harwood, Kennedy and Mia VanWinkle, Layton and Lyza Rowsey, and Ruby, Betsy, Charlotte Vandiver.
He was preceded in death by parents Dramon and Eula Williams.
Visitation will Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church.
