In loving memory of Daniel "Dan" Lynnwood Sloan, 70, who passed away on March 13, 2017. He was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Elizabeth Sloan Cash and Jack Sloan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Moore Sloan; daughters: Meredith Elizabeth Sloan and Lauren Sloan Canady, son-in-law, Avery Joseph Canady, Jr., and son Daniel Porter Sloan; two grandsons, Avery Joseph Canady III and Preston Sloan Canady; one brother, Jerry Sloan and sister, Linda Sheffield. Along with his family he is survived by numerous faithful granddogs, Oliver, Tippy, Gus, Tinkerbell, Blue, Riley and Allie. Dan graduated from The Citadel with a BS degree in Business Administration in 1969. After graduating college he proudly served in the Army Corps of Engineers stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and Fort Jackson, South Carolina. At the time of his death he was the President and Co-Owner of Greenville Meats, Inc. and Columbia Meats, Inc. He was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 703 East Washington Street, Greenville, South Carolina at 3:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fourth Presbyterian Church or The Greenville Humane Society. The Mackey Mortuary. Online guest registry at www.mackeymortuary.com

Just got the news that Mr Sloan has passed. He was a fine fella. I met him at the Pickens flea market. I have so many memories, and he and his wife were at our wedding in 2007. According to his obituary, he led a wonderful life with a beautiful family. I'm sure he is very missed. Rest In Peace sir.....Matt McCann....
