Martha Martinez Tamez was born in East Chicago, Indiana on Sunday, December 13, 1931, to parents Manuel and Biviana Martinez. She passed away in Hempstead, Texas on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
Martha was raised in Marin, NL, Mexico, made her home in Houston with husband Raul Tamez, Sr. who preceded her in death, and they later retired to Hempstead, Texas.
Martha is survived by her children, Mary Margaret Tamez Lozano, Mirtala Tamez Boman, Raul Tamez, Jr.; grandchildren Martin Martinez, Victoria Lopez, Nancy Haynes, Regina Olivares-Riddle, Dan R. Perales, Tabatha Spinale, Trey Cherry and Raul Tamez, III; Great grandchildren Sophia, Austin and Evan Haynes, Reed, Alexandra and Isabella Riddle, Dylan Spinale and Maddox Davidson. Also surviving is her sister, Hilda M. Martinez, brother, Jose Martinez, and sister, Susana Martinez.
Family and friends will gather and share memories of this wonderful woman during a visitation on Wednesday, March 15 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where a Vigil service for Martha will begin at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will also be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, with Deacon Dan O'Dowd of St. Jerome Catholic Church officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in Section 12 of Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, also in Houston.

I am so sorry to hear of Martha's passing. Jesus wept after the death of his friend Lazarus. John 11:35. We mourn along with you. May the God who binds up the brokenhearted and comforts all who mourn sustain and surround you, until you meet again, Psalm 147:3.
