Samuel "Sammy" McGinnis, Sr. went home to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 7 years, Sadie Tullos McGinnis and his son Samuel McGinnis. Son of the late Ernest and Ophelia Stewart McGinnis. Brother of Ophelia Brewer (the late George), Olivia Macklin (Richard), Erma Forbes (Ronald), John McGinnis (Enola), Isaiah McGinnis and preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Myrtle (August) Green, Frank McGinnis, Leo McGinnis, Ornal McGinnis, Emmett McGinnis, Emanuel McGinnis and Joseph McGinnis.
He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Lillie McGinnis, Carolyn McGinnis, numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
"Sammy" graduated from L. B. Landry High School the class of 1958-1959. Upon graduation he served his country in the United States Army.
He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Harvey, Louisiana.
Relatives, friends, Pastor, Officers, and members of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expy., Marrero, LA on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation from 9:00 am until service time. Interment following in Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
