Wilton Douglas “Doug” Dotson, St. Joseph, MO, son of Delmar & Hazel (Robertson) Dotson was born July 12, 1923 and passed away March 15, 2017 at the age of 93. Doug was a 1941 graduate of Central High School where he was a baseball All Star and a graduate of St. Joseph Junior College; he also attended the University of Missouri.
Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp on December 4, 1942 and served proudly as a pilot during WWII receiving an honorable discharge on August 16, 1944. On November 27, 1949, Doug and Eileen Sparks were united in marriage in St. Joseph, MO. To this union, a daughter and a son were born. Doug loved spending time with his family and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Doug was a very active member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church. He was also a 50-year member of the Zeredatha Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Moila Shrine Temple. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and VFW Post #359.
Doug loved and was proud of his family and his family loved and was proud of him. He will be greatly missed!
Doug was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Eileen, of 67 years; daughter, Debbie (Doug) Perry, Osborn, MO; son, Steve Dotson, St. Joseph, MO; 3 grandchildren, Bryan, (Jessica) Perry, Raleigh, NC, Beth (John) Hesson, Plattsburg, MO, and Aimee (Aaron) Ramsey, Osborn, MO; and 9 great-grandchildren, Preston, Grace, Alec, Chloe, Jaxson, Grant, Ethan, Presley and Gavin.
Visitation from 12 to 1 PM, Wednesday, March 22, 2017 with services immediately following at Meierhoffer Funeral Home.
