Arnold Benjamin Levitt, 77, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Harry and Irene Levitt. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie (Schechtman) Levitt; his son, Eric (Carmen) Levitt and was preceded in death by son, Hal Levitt; five grandsons, Jason and Joseph Levitt,, Ethan and Austin Levitt; two granddaughters, Grace Levitt and Kayla Caudle and sister, Sylvia Madanick.
Arnold graduated from Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, NY and attended City College of New York. He was a successful accountant and chief financial officer for numerous apparel firms in Manhattan for more than 40 years. He served his country as an army reservist and was honorably discharged. A devoted family man and loyal friend, Arnold was incredibly generous and loved a good laugh. He was fond of telling funny stories to family and friends and displayed kindness to all people that he met.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
A Graveside service will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Beth Israel Cemetery located in Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611 at 10:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. #142, Memphis, TN 38148 or Meals on Wheels Greenville, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29608.
