Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Sam Willoughby, 79, of Attalla, who passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Rev. Bruce Word will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Willoughby was an Iron Worker for over 40 years retiring from Gulf States Steel. Sam was quick witted with a great sense of humor and had a big heart. He was always helpful to anyone in need, often visiting friends in the nursing home. He was an avid turkey and deer hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed eating breakfast with his friends at Jacks. Sam was a member of Siberton Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Willoughby was preceded in death by his parents Delton and Audie May Willoughby; and stepfather, Jay Alexander.
He is survived by his wife, Savoy Willoughby; children, Keith (Janie) Willoughby, and Debbie (Tommy) Batson; step-children, Malena (Chris) Wilburn, Kelli (Mike) Gilliland, and Bethany Nelson; grandchildren, Amber (Drake) Ridgeway, Christopher (Laura) Willoughby, Jonathan Willoughby, Brock (Crystal) Batson, Mallory (Adam) Clough, Crimson Trimm, and Jake Trimm; great-grandchildren, Laney Ridgeway, Landon Willoughby, Lilly Willoughby, Layla Willoughby, Liam Willoughby, Brayden Batson, and Brody Batson; sister, Peggy (Marion) Moody; brother, Danny (Sharon) Alexander; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Willoughby, Chris Willoughby, Brock Batson, Jake Trimm, Drake Ridgeway, and Mike Gilliland.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Emyckfaw Creek Hunting Club.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 20, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
