Mr. Thomas Ruskin McConnell, Jr. age 86 of McDonough, Georgia passed away March 19, 2017. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Thomas Ruskin McConnell, Sr. and Lula Mabel Littlejohn McConnell. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack McConnell. Tom faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina and his Doctorate from Peabody University. He retired after 22 years with the State of Georgia Division of Mental Health. Tom enjoyed wood working, was an avid reader, had been active in the Democratic Party, and had been a precinct manager for the elections in Henry County. He co-authored a book, “Cemeteries of Henry County, Georgia”, which is available at the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton County. With the help of his mechanical engineering degree, he and his wife designed and built their dream home. Survivors include his wife, Ginny McConnell; sister in law, Elinor McConnell of Charlotte, NC; cousin, Sylvia Littlejohn of Augusta; nephew, Bill McConnell of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Beth Racis of Austin, TX, and Susan Johansen of Los Angeles, CA.
