Delia J. Thompson, 93 of Independence passed away March 19, 2017. Delia was born October 12, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alfred Thompson and daughter, Loretta Smith. Delia is survived by her daughter, Deanna Cross; 9 grandchildren, Carolyn Brasfield, Mark Johnson, Randy Johnson, Michael Harrelson, Leanna Harrelson-Atterbury, Brenda Coon, Alan Smith, Jr., Robert Smith and Jeff Smith; 17 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, March 24, 2017 from 11 am until service time at 12 pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to CCVI Children’s Center of Visually Impaired or the Estate of Delia Thompson. Carol and family I am so sorry for your loss. I know she was so much more to you Carol than a grandma and you were very close. I remember sitting on your bed in her house in high school and trying on dresses. And didn't she make my maid of honor dress for your wedding!! I know you did all you could in recent years to care for her as she cared for you all those years ago. I know you will all greatly miss her. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!
