COLUMBIA - Beatrice “Aunt Bobbi” Eleanor Durham Osborn, 100, died on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Columbia.
Born in Takely, Essex, England in 1916, she served as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nursing member in the British Red Cross Society during World War II where she met Geoffrey Alan Osborn while he was convalescing from injuries suffered as a bomber pilot, Royal Air Force. They married in November 1944. After the war they lived in then Rhodesia, Zimbabwe, Germany, England, Bermuda, and Columbia. Bobbi sold fine china in Trimmingham’s, Hamilton, Bermuda, and painted and sold watercolors of Bermuda scenes for many years.
Preceded in death by her husband Geoff, she is survived by daughter, Wendy Hollger (Mark) of Columbia; son, Michael Osborn (Debbie) of Fittleworth, West Sussex, England; brother-in-law, Jack Osborn of Lumberton N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
