Susan and family,
My mother sent me a clipping of Burney's obituary. I grew up in Memphis and went to grade school, junior high, and high school with Burney and Billy.
They were friends of mine and I admired them both. I was shocked to hear of Billy's passing and now even more so to learn about Burney.
I saw him last at out 40th high school reunion and met you. He will be missed by all who knew him. What a super guy he was.
You all will be in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,
Dona Montague Ford

I am Truely sorry to hear of Burney's passing and know that his is so missed by those who knew and loved him throughout his life. I worked with him off and on for over 15 years in the investment banking industry and he was one of the most honest and dedicated workers that I ever knew.

Reading about Burney's passing in our local newspaper brought back a
flood of memories. We were neighbors and shared good times together in
Bethel Grove here in Memphis. His Mom, Big Burney was a dance teacher
who gave my Dad his start as a dance teacher in her studio in Memphis
in the early 50's. Her studio was on Lamar between Williams Tent &
Awning and our Community Center. I remember our times together on
LaRose (their street ??). I believe, his sister, Sandy danced with
Frank Holden and won many trophies and contests in their time together
as a duo. Upon my return to the Memphis area from Paragould in the
late 60's,I sort of connected with them again. What with families,
children and schedules, I lost touch. I trust that Burney's loved
ones will know that he and his family were on our minds throughout the
years. Now we pray for this family and hope they cherish the good
memories of a good man.

So sorry for your loss. Burney, his mother, brother, and sister were a major part of my life from 1953 to 1967. Burney was my dance partner in the couples group dancing classes for over 10 years. Great memories, and lots of fun. First boy to ever ask me to dance. 1 was practically raised at that Dancing School. His mom was my second mother, and I only lived couple doors down the street. Again, my deepest regrets he was a wonderfully sweet boy.
