Ronald Montgomery Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2017.

Ronald P. Montgomery passed away at the age of 77 on March 19, 2017 in Austin, TX.

Ron was born to Claire and Hulneda Montgomery on February 7, 1940, in Aberdeen, SD. He was one of 11 siblings. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Randolph before being medically discharged in 1960. Ron married the love of his life, Patricia Kane, on October 14, 1960, in Austin, where they raised their four children, Ronnie, Randy, Russ and Katrina. He was an officer with the Austin Police Department in the mid 60's to early 70's. Ron worked in the vehicle maintenance field and drove a wrecker for many years before retiring in the mid-80's. He and Pat moved to Granger, where he became involved in managing and owning various flea markets in the Granger, Lockhart and Kyle areas.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, son Randy and siblings Max, Tom, Donald, Bill, Nancy, Sue and Jim. He is survived by his siblings John, Jane and Julie, his son Ronnie and wife Sherry, son Russ and wife Chris, daughter Katrina, grandchildren Felicia, Jimmy, Michael, Brandi, Matthew, Tricia, Marshall, Mitchell and Riley, as well as six great-grandchildren. The family would all like to especially thank Katrina for the care she has provided her father for the past nine years.

A Celebration of Ron's Life will take place at 1:00 P.M., on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Threadgill's, located at 301 W. Riverside Dr., in Austin. Please come as you are and share your memories of Ron with the family.
