Larry Taormina Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2017.

Larry F. Taormina, 92, a resident of Grapevine, Texas, passed away quietly Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance in Fort Worth, Texas.

Born in Minetto, he was the son of the late Philip (Fidelis) and Antoniette (Castiglia) Taormina.

Larry was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a proud army veteran, serving his country in World War II. He worked as a welder for Armstrong World Industries for 41 years until his retirement in 1988.

An 87 year resident of Oswego, he moved to Texas to be with his family in 2012. He loved talking about the good old days, his years in the service and his loving wife he spent 69 years married to. In his younger years he liked to hunt, fish, garden and watch Yankees baseball.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary K. Taormina, of Grapevine, TX and Patricia (Robert) Cooper, of Gilroy, CA.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, Andrea (Collin) Antos, of Colleyville, TX; Michael Cooper, of Las Vegas, NV; and Stephanie Cooper, of Pen Argyl, PA; three great-grandchildren, Gina Antos and soon to be born great-grandson Antos, Tatyana Cooper and Josselyn Desbiens.

He was predeceased by the love of his life in 2016, his wife Mary L. Taormina. He was also predeceased by his brothers, James, infant Larry, Joseph, Samuel, Tony, Frederick, Nicholas, and Anthony; and sisters, Mary Malambri, Susan Frani, Anna Demmons and Kathleen Arduini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 23rd, at Good Shepherd Catholic Community, 1000 Tinker Rd, Colleyville, TX. The Rendering of Military honors will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park following church services.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00am at the church. Larry will be cremated following his services at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
