Doris Renatti, 95, formerly of Tampa, FL, a member of Idlewild Baptist Church since 1957. She went home to be with Jesus, passing peacefully on March 20, 2017 at her home in Monument, CO. Survivors include son, JT, Renee (daughter-in-law), Jason (grandson), Natalie (granddaughter-in-law), Sloan (great granddaughter), nieces include: Gwen (Rick) Henderson, Linda (John) Mitchell, nephews; Bob (Gail) Griffey, Randy (Beth Ann) Griffey, 12 great, 9 great-great and 2 great-great-great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, John, mother and father, Nell and Joe Thomas, brother, Elvis Thomas, sister, Joann Griffey, nephew Tom Griffey. Doris was born Mary Doris Thomas on August 29, 1921 to Joseph C and Nellie Thomas. Doris was a middle child between her brother, Elvis, and younger sister, Joann. In the early 50s the Thomas, Renatti and Griffey families settled in Tampa, FL where some eventually met and married to create the beautiful families of today. Doris met John Renatti and they had their only child, J.T. They settled in the new subdivision of Forest Hills in north Tampa. They were busy in life with work and family and active in Windhorst Lodge in Tampa. She was widowed in 1997. Doris stayed in her Forest Hills home until September 2009, working into her 80s and sharing in the lives of nieces and nephews. She then moved to Houston, TX and then onto Colorado residing with her son and daughter-in-law, Renee. Throughout her working career, among other roles including working in a factory to support World War II efforts, Doris was a bookkeeper, administrator and finally, an Information Desk person at WTVT and even made a NASCAR commercial while working there. Doris was a dedicated, nurturing woman, determined and full of life. She was deeply devoted and committed in her love and support to her family as daughter, wife, mother (& in-law), aunt (four generations), grandmother and great grandmother. Hers was a life well lived. She has always considered Idlewild Baptist Church, her home church in Tampa and knows Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She will rest in Garden of Memories-Myrtle Hill Cemetery next to her husband, John, and her mother and father. Services on Saturday, March 25th, Blount & Curry Funeral Home – Carrollwood Chapel; 3207 W. Bearss Ave., 33618, visitation 1-2 pm, service at 2 pm.
