Mrs. Doris Mae Varner Gallimore, 87, resident of Thomasville, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at her home.
A resident of this area all of her life, Mrs. Gallimore was born on October 18, 1929 in Davidson County to the late Charles and Tisha Louise Hill Varner. She was of the Baptist faith and especially enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, and quilting. Through her many years of quilting, she ministered to many hospice patients and nursing home residents, having made over 150 quilts for hospice and numerous lap blankets for shut-ins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Gallimore, and numerous siblings.
She is survived by her son, Thomas E. Gallimore and wife Penny of Lexington; daughter, Wanda Jones of Garner; grandson, Thomas Phillip Gallimore and wife Andrea; granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Bright and husband Ken; great granddaughter, Kaila McKenzie Bright; two sisters, Edna Cecil and Emma Kindley; special niece, Louise Gallimore Burton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, March 25th in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home with Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Friday, March 24th at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
