Ullestad, Mary Lou (Wilson) age 83, of Ames, joined the other angels in heaven March 23, 2017.
Preceded in death by parents (Clarice) Darlene and Earl Wilson. She will be dearly missed by loving husband of 62 years Richard, sister Joyce Eacret (Marion), brother Robert Wilson (Scarlet), son David (Lynn), son Randy (Patricia), and daughter Deeann Forster, in addition to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou, born March 22, 1934, in her parents' farmhouse just outside Prairie City, Iowa, was a 1952 graduate of Ames High School, and attended Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. After a long career in Dental Assisting, Mary Lou worked in the Purchasing Dept of McFarland Clinic in Ames for 28 years before retiring in 2012.
Mary Lou was an active member of her church and choir, loved performing in musicals & community theater groups, and was an avid writer who regularly contributed to local magazines & newspapers.
Viewing will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 1st (9-11A) with services to follow.
In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society in Mary Lou's name.

Aunt Mary Lou was a very special heart in our family! When I was little I couldn't say Mary Lou & she told me one day later in life I called her Aunt Itty Boo! To me she will always be my Aunt Itty Boo!! She was always laughing, loving & made our many family gatherings fun!! She was loved & will be missed by all who knew her!!!

What wonderful memories we have of Mary Lou..... church, eating out, socializing at each others homes, traveling to out of town friends to celebrate birthdays etc. etc. Such a wonderful person, we loved her dearly and our condolences to Dick and all the family.

I have so many fond memories of Mary Lou in Elementary School on through H S. She was a talented, creative person. She sang at my wedding and was a friend to so many. She will be missed by so many.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family and friends.
