Mrs. Rita Bennett, 88, of Lumberton, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be at WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 102 North 1st Street, Lumberton, MS, 39455 on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 am. Rev. Glenn Freeman and Rev. Jesse Ladner will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Lumberton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Monday at White Funeral Home, Lumberton.
Mrs. Bennett was born October 9, 1928 in the Byrdline Community to Emory Hester and Mattie Spiers Hester. She was a homemaker and a member of Lumberton United Methodist Church. Above all, caring for her children and family was most important to her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Bennett in 1984; two daughters, Diane Bennett, Linda Bennett; and one sister, Mavis Anderson.
Family members are two sons, Ronnie Bennett and his wife Debbie, Jimmy Bennett; one daughter, Connie Bennett; one brother, Kenneth Hester; one sister, Ruth Hester; two grandchildren, Zack Bennett and his wife Jennifer, Kasey Scholle and her husband Michael; four great grandchildren, Landon Scholle, Trace Scholle, Bentlee Bennett, and Brooklyn Bennett.
