Mildred Hudson Byars, 88, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10th, 2017. She was born on October 15, 1928 in Greenville, SC to the late Barney and Lettie Hudson. She was the widow of James T. Byars. She is survived by daughter, Mary Hughes Gallahan; granddaughter Cindy Hughes Johnson and husband Adam; and a great-granddaughter, Jordyn Hughes. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Arthur Hudson, and sister, Florence Smith. Mildred was predeceased by brothers Fred, Robert, and Milfred Hudson; sisters Etta Godfrey and Mabeline Steading; and grandson Rodney Hughes.
Mildred was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a proud member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. After working for over 40 years at Piedmont Shirt Factory in Greenville, SC, she fulfilled her dreams of being a gardener, great-grandmother, and helping others.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Rocky Creek Baptist Church (1801 Woodruff Rd, Greenville, SC 29607) followed by a celebration of life gathering at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall.
In her memory, flowers can be donated to Mackey Mortuary (311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607) or a donation can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
