Cevon M. McLean of Lothian, Maryland died in a tragic car accident April 9, 2017 at the age of 59. Cevon was a graduate of the Valley Forge Military Academy/College and the University of Maryland and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for nearly 30 years.

Mary, I was saddened to hear from my sister Jackie that you lost your dear husband, Cevon. I realize I haven't spoken to you since high school but wanted you to know I care. My family is Navy-Marine Corps and so it deepens the sorrow to know he was a tremendous patriot! Our sincere sympathy to you and family.

I just wish he was here to experience America being restored to the greatness we both believed would happen. As long as there are Americans willing to fight and die for our country, I will hold the American flag by a busy road for Cevon and Americans. I miss you and will forever love you. Chari

Cevon was one of my best friends. He made my life better. You see, we both love Mustangs, dogs and America. Together we had fun times and we had some bad times too. But even in bad times...Cevon was always positive. He never complained or whined--he would just try harder. He was an inspiration to me. And Cevon was an honest man, a true sharp minded businessman...a real American in that free spirit that makes this country special and great. He understood that in America you are free to succeed...and you are free to fail. With that powerful spirit he lived an interesting life that few could. You see, Cevon had real guts. He was fearless especially when he was in full control of any situation. He trusted his wise instincts. Everyone trusted him and you could always count of him. He fought for good and fought against evil. I learned a lot from Cevon. His two beautiful kids Brett and Cara both have his great qualities: positive spirit, work ethic and honesty. I am sad and feel a great loss without Cevon. I love you Cevon...wish I could bring you back...your friend Rick Barker

We were overwhelmed when we learned of Cevon's passing, it just doesn't seem possible. Our hearts are heavy for Mary, Brett and Cara. Cevon was a great friend that I could talk to about anything. Cevon's positive twist on life was inspiring and contagious. When we reflect on our times with Cevon, a smile comes to our faces and I'm betting Cevon would have it no other way. We love you Cevon.

Mary, Brett, and Cara,
We were very saddened by the news and so sorry for your loss. It's very hard to believe that Cevon is gone. Cevon did so many things to help out his neighbors and was always great fun to talk to. No one was better known or better liked in Lothian Woods than Cevon.

One of my earliest childhood memories was building a snow fort in my parents front yard. Out of nowhere a kid showed up and we proceeded to create the most spectacular fort I'd ever seen. I didn't know at the time this was Cevon McLean, a person that would amaze me for over 50 years with his talent to successfully complete tasks most people would never dream of attempting.
We kept in touch over the years occasionally helping with each other's (what most would call crazy) endeavors. He was one of the most active, hardest working people I've ever known. I can remember numerous late evening phone calls, me getting ready for bed, Cevon getting ready to head into the garage. He truly loved his work.
I knew things were going to get even better for Cevon by the way he acted when he told me he had met a girl. Mary was the perfect person to support Cevon's lifestyle while also keeping him under reasonable control.
To say I'll miss Cevon is an understatement. I could never put into words the way I feel. I have nothing but the best wishes for the entire family.

I didn't know Cevon well, but I always enjoyed talking with him when he called off his dogs, from Shelby down to Tessa, whenever I walked by with mine. He impressed me as a man who loved his work and was devoted to his family and friends. The neighborhood will not be the same without him.

There are no words that can express the sadness that we all feel. Cevon's personality was bigger than life. Boats, crabs, and all the toys, the boys did it all. Sharing in all our families lives over so many years, it will be so hard to say good bye.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday...
Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.
Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Our deepest sympathy to your family. He will truly be missed.

Cevon was my dear friend of over 35 years - throughout those years i enjoyed the best of times with Cevon and his wife Mary, vacationing, traveling together, four wheeling and relaxing in the Outer Banks, and dozens of other (and sometimes antics that drove Mary crazy) things that great friends do together. I also had the pleasure of watching his two wonderful and devoted children grow to become amazing adults. His zest for adventure, his attitude that nothing was impossible, and the positive energy you always felt in his presence barely describes the wonderful qualities that you couldn't help but smile about. As his close friend, Cevon gave me some of the greatest gifts a friend could ask for - unconditional friendship, generosity, always a "yes" when I needed help, and a tremendous warmth and loving heart. My greatest sympathies to Mary, Brett, Cara and all of Cevon's family. I'm always here for you if you need anything. Cevon, rest in peace, I deeply miss you, and will never forget you my brother.
