Frances Mae Metzner of Raleigh, NC, born April 20, 1925, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2017. She was born in Dayton, OH, and lived in Austin, TX, Inola, OK, and Raleigh, NC. She lived an active life and had many hobbies and interests. She loved spending time with her family and was passionate about her pet dogs. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, quilting, knitting, ceramics, sewing, cooking, gardening, traveling, and completing puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Harry W. Metzner; son, Matthew B. Metzner and wife, Brenda Metzner; daughters, Karen M. VonBargen and husband, Gary VonBargen, Kay Metzner, and Barbara L. Franklin and husband, Paul D. Franklin; grandchildren, Erica Kuehnhausen, Rachel VonBargen, Krissy VonBargen, Andrea VonBargen, Courtney Poole, Cody Poole, Drew Franklin, Justin Franklin, Summerlyn Franklin, Rheannon Franklin, and Shelby Gleadow; and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, followed by a graveside gathering at Raleigh Memorial Park at 3 pm.
