Family of Marvin:
Sorry I couldn't post sooner. I just got back from a trip down South and I went to the Black River Falls cribbage tournament and found out about Marv's passing. Marv and I have been friends ever since we started playing cribbage together. I believe Marv has never missed one of my tournaments in West Bend and I'll miss the saying Marv tells me every time he heads for home, "Thank you for serving". I will deeply miss his outstanding composure that he transcended in every tournament he attended and I know he has a lot of friends in cribbage and outside. This asset will be deeply missed I believe by everybody that came in contact with Marvin. I apologize that I could not come to his last farewell. And I thank him for all the blessings he bestowed on the world and onto me that we will deeply miss.
His Cribbage Friend, MOOSE and family.
Thank you Marv for caring for all!

Cousin Marvin, although as a kid I always thought of you as an uncle. You treated us on many occasions as kids to bowling and other activities after our fathers passing. You visited often and genuinely cared about our well being. Always loved seeing you in my adult years at the family reunions in Medford. You are in a great place now and will be missed.

Vicki, my heart is breaking for you and your family. Your dad was one of the kindest men I have ever met! I am so glad you were able to spend those 2 weeks with him last month and loved that we were all able to play cribbage together! I hope in time the pain lessens and you are able to find peace in the precious memories you have of him and your mom. Love you!

Lang family, Marv was a great guy and a great cribbage player. He was Scotts mentor in the ACC. Always a smile on his face and a thankyou for bringing Scott. We were lucky to know him and will miss him always as Mr. cribbage Illinois. I'm sure his last flush was in hearts he'll always be in ours.

I also work at the library, and like my co-worker Beth mentioned, saw Marv several times a week. He always would say, "Thanks for your service" or "Thanks for coming in to work today" with his droll smile and fun sense of humor. I would often respond, "Well, we're here just for you!" And it's sort of true, because it is for wonderful folks like Marv that we come in to work everyday. People like him make the world a better place. We're so sorry for your loss. May the kind words of others, your fond memories of him and your faith bring you great comfort in this difficult time.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your Dad. My heart goes out to his family. Marv was a true gentlemen and one of the kindest and sweetest men I ever met. He was a man of very few words but when he did say something it had great impact on people. He displayed great sportsmanship at the cribbage table whether he was winning or losing. He always thanked me for bringing David to tournaments (seems like a common occurrence). I will miss him immensely. May God comfort you and give you some peace in all the good memories you have. "Thanks for serving" Marv!

April 19th.....the date we were were looking forward to. .. The date you were to see the heart doctor....... to then go forward with angeoplasty procedure...... and then right into heart valve replacement.......you would feel great again and continue to travel and play in cribbage leagues and tournaments and see your family and friends...... Instead April 19th has become the date of your wake........God please send me extra angels to handle all this.......i hate this pain.....the pain you can't run from.....the pain no one can fix......the pain where you have to learn somehow to survive with it.....I miss my dad so deeply the ache just consumes me.......this amazing man as he aged grew into the kindest gentle walking soul on the planet......he touched so many lives......his famous saying of "Enjoy your day" or "Thank you for serving" will be remembered by all the paths he journeyed and the people he met along the way.......you are with mom now dad and Amy and Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Bob and Peggy and Dutes and Dave Drew and George your cribbage buddies amongst numerous others........enjoy Heaven because I am sure of it that you were welcomed with open arms......see you up there someday, but until then I will try to continue to live by making you so proud. Vicki and Marvin and Family,
We were blessed to have your parents as our Woodstock neighbors for 32 years. Your dad always inquired about our children and didn't say a negative thing about anyone. I remember how he would walk over when I was working in my flowers, and he would thank me for growing the flowers that he could see out of his front window. Frequently, he would ask if I had also seen the hawk or the squirrel that had attracted his attention. He never bragged about his cribbage successes or anything--we had to learn from others that he was a major Woodstock sports backer, he refereed, he drove school bus, etc. No matter the time or temperature, he left our conversations with the famous "enjoy your day!" We are blessed to have been a small part of his journey. Our thoughts are with all of you. Dora and Jack Tippens and Family

He was the nicest PERSON I ever met. I will miss him at tournaments.

My dad, John, used to play Cribbage with Marv. Only met him a few times. He was a sweet and kind gentleman. Perhaps they are playing Cribbage again together. He would refer to us as child A, B, etc. Always brought a smile to my face.

My prayers and thoughts are with your family.

Such a nice guy, he will be missed. As always Marv, "Thank you for driving!"

I work at the library and saw Marv on a regular basis when he would come in to use the computer. He would always tease me before a major holiday by asking me if the library was going to be open (on Christmas for example) and I learned to give it right back to him by telling him "Yes, just for you-you should get here early" or leaving him notes that we were going to be closed. I just realized that we didn't get to have our "Easter closing" conversation and I am sorry for that. He was a sweet, dear man and I will miss him. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Dear Lang Family,
Marv was one of the best. He always thanked me for bringing Dale to crib tournaments. He would sing in the mornings, he would take sips of my beer and he would always play a tune on the glass with a pen. Never a snarky word, always a smile and a warm greeting. He touched everyone he meet and he will be missed dearly.
May God grant you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Marv's faith was extremely strong...I know Jesus will greet him with open arms and say "Good and faithful servant....take rest!"
Hugs and Tugs
