Virginia Marie Kiernan Lang, age 93, of Front Royal passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be conducted at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
Mrs. Lang was born in Norfolk on November 24, 1923 a daughter of the late Captain James Eugene Kiernan, USN and the late Helen Kenny Kiernan. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After the death of her husband of 25 years, Captain Harold Lang, USN, she volunteered at the Naval Hospital and as a Gray Lady at Arlington National Cemetery. In her youth she was an Opera singer. Mrs. Lang was Catholic by faith.
Mrs. Lang is survived by her children, Janice Stokes and husband James of Tappahannock, William Lang of Fredericksburg, and Patricia Moore and husband Larry of Front Royal; her sister, Geraldine Johnson of Easton, MD; her grandchildren, Charlene Meyers, Matthew Lang, and James Browning; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in her name be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or the Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
