Shirley, a sixty-three resident of the Monterey Peninsula, was born in Bastrap, Louisiana. She worked as a waitress in many restaurants for forty-two years, she retired from the Clam Box Restaurant in Carmel where she worked with her two best friends, Ilene and Carolyn. Shirley
enjoyed playing bunco, going to Bible Study, attending Sunday Services and she loved cooking.
Shirley was a passionate Christian so, it was no surprise that she passed on Easter Sunday. Her love for Christ was evident in her everyday life. She was a role model for all who came in contact with her.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Denise (Jim); her sons, Ray (Patty), Jack (Debbie) and Lance; four grandsons, three great-grandchildren and one expected soon. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Doyle.
Visitation will take place at The Paul Mortuary Chapel Wednesday, April 26 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 26 at 11:00 AM at the Santa Rosalia Chapel of San Carlos Cemetery followed by burial at the cemetery.

I only knew you for a short couple years. However in that time I came to love and admire you.I enjoyed your
spunk, your humor and laughter. Thanks for letting me into your home and your heart. I only wish that you would have had more time in my life as you brought me joy and laughter.I know at the end you were in a lot of pain. But you seemed to be ready to be with your lord and maker.I'm sure he welcomed you with open arms.I know that you are happy to be there and are with Doyle and the rest of your lost loved ones. I admire that even at the end how you were in control of your life and your death. Even tho you will be missed I'm happy that you didn't linger in suffering. The lord was indeed merciful. Thanks for being part of my life.. RIP Mike

I would like to thank the girls from hospice for the care they provided for my mother.Jillian,my on call angel, anna, without her humor, professionalism, and advice I wouldn't have been able to provide the type of care she knew I wanted to provide, and to Jodi who helped us into hospice knowing the adventure my mother and myself were about to embark and that we would need their help.Thank You Hospice girls for your kindness, and advice.thank you Danilyn from sutter home health care for being so kind to my Mom,she noticed and so did I.And I would like to give special thanks to Dave my mothers pastor who visited regularly to share the Word with my Mom.And Dave thanks for all rounds of sparring(haha!!)Without all of the above people we could not have made the journey with the grace and dignity that my mother so wished for. With Love and Respect, Shirley and Lance!! I will be forever greatful

We were all saddended at Gateway Center to hear the loss of Shirley. Shirley's son, Doyle, had been part of our Gateway Center for many years and Shirley was one of God's Special Angels. We are sure that God is giving Shirley a hug; as this is what Doyle requested we do anytime we greeted Shirley. Our thoughts & prayers go out to all of Shirley's family & friends. God Bless

I was so sad to learn of Shirley's passing but she is finally with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What a wonderful servant of God she was and she is in His arms forever. Love you Shirley, until we meet again.
