Edward Carlton Young
Born: February 17, 1923 in Buffalo, New York and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday April 18 in Clearwater, Florida.
Ed lived most of his life in Buffalo and West Seneca, New York. He was married to the love of his life, Jean P. Young for over 60 years. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a staff clerk. His career was in the banking industry and he worked in various administrative roles for the Federal Reserve Bank of Buffalo until his retirement in 1974.
He and his wife, Jean, retired to Clearwater, Florida in 1975, purchased their retirement home on Byram Drive where they lived for 35 years. He lost his Jean in September 2010 and decided he could not live alone. He moved as an independent senior to The Oaks of Clearwater where he has resided for the last seven years.
He was active at the Oaks and received Volunteer of the Year in 2012. He helped other seniors and assisted the activity director with shuffle board games and anything else that was needed to be done. He liked to stay busy. Thank you to the Oaks staff for their kindness and care during his residence.
He leaves behind his loving niece and caregiver, Patricia, her husband Mike Potter (Savannah, GA), his nephew Jack McLean and his wife Elizabeth (Denver, CO), along with good friends, Ed and Kathy Gunn and longtime friend Rose Braun and Braun family. He was loved dearly and will be missed by them all, but is finally with his loving wife Jean who he missed so very much these past seven years.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the local Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzehimer’s Association, 4010 Roosevelt Blvd., Suite 709, Clearwater, FL 33762; 727.578.2558, Website: http://www.alz.org/flgulfcoast/in_my_community_contact.asp
