I had the pleasure of knowing both Es and Rip when my husband was on duty at the Naval Academy.....back in the late 60's.
It's been my fortune to be her neighbor at Ginger Cove for many years.
Heaven now has another angel!!

Farewell to the "Grande Dame" of the U.S. Naval Academy and Annapolis who was larger than life and a joy to know. We will always remember Esther's 100th birthday celebration when she shared one of her secrets to a long life: have a good belly laugh every day. We will miss you, Dear Es. Heaven has gained a high-spirited and sublime soul. Rest in peace.

Some people you know you want to get to know better as soon as you meet them. This lady was one of those to me. It made me sad that I did not live closer to Annapolis. She has been a great inspiration to many of us in the A&S program. May she now rest with Rip I peace.
