Hestal Dean (Cox) Martin of Madison passed away Saturday, April 22 surrounded by her family at her home. Ms. Martin was born in Mercer, Tennessee and moved to Huntsville in 1963. She retired from JC Penney after twenty-five years of service in their financial department. She was a master seamstress and owned her own business creating custom drapery, home décor and bedspreads; but her real passion was sewing heirloom garments for her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Martin and leaves her legacy in her living family including daughters, Ginger Carter (Joe) of Huntsville and Sarah Cantrell of Hazel Green; four grandchildren, Chris Shepard (Dominique) of Franklin, TN, Heather Owens (Waylon) of Elora, TN, Rebecca Winters (Emory) of Huntsville, and Amanda Reese (Jamie) of Huntsville; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Jane Watlington (Steve), Hazel Bailey, both of Jackson, TN, Juanita Lee (Ed) of Carrollton, TX and one brother, Ralph Cox of Raegan, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Apr. 25 from 10am-12noon at Valhalla Funeral Home, with the chapel service commencing at 12noon. Pastor Greg Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Ms. Martin's family extends a special appreciation to Whitney Kelly and FMS Odyssey Dialysis Center Staff for their loving care.
