Helen Oglesby, a long-time resident of Bartow County,
died peacefully Sunday the 23rd of April at her home on Lake Allatoona.
Born in 1934 in Cartersville, GA, Helen moved to Pennsylvania in 1953
to start a family. She returned to Cartersville in 1964.
Helen worked for the City of Cartersville for over 30 years and retired as City Clerk in 1997.
She lived out her retirement years on Lake Allatoona, but continued to enjoy attending
Church and Sunday School at the Tabernacle Church as long as she was able.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mae Lanham and Walton Land - one brother Billy Land, and husbands Ray Ganssle, Dewey Wilson, and Ralph Oglesby.
Survivors include her children, Gwen (Brian) Easterday, Mona Quinn, Raymond Ganssle and Danny Wilson;
Step Children, Jimmy (Bridget) Wilson, Debbie (Larry) Allen, and Lewis(Dale) Oglesby;
nephew Randy (Amy) Land; niece Lori Land Wright; sisters-in-law Christine Wilson, Anna Merle Parham, Doris Todd.
Services for Mrs. Oglesby will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel at two o'clock in the afternoon. The service will be officiated by Dr. Don Hattaway. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Cartersville, GA. Serving as pall bearers will be: Jimmy Wilson, Walker Wilson and Randy Land.
The family will receive friends from five until nine o'clock in the evening Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville, GA.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Cartersville.
