COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Sara G. Neeley, 96, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Neeley, widow of Mr. John William Neeley III, died Monday, April 24, 2017. Born on May 1, 1920 in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Kennedy Gillespie and Geneva Dunlap Gillespie.
Sara was a graduate of Columbia College and was a school teacher at Fulmer Middle School for 18 ½ years. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She loved traveling, cooking, and reading.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Cauble (Woody) of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, John William “Bill” Neeley IV (Carla) of Columbia; four grandchildren, Christine Cauble (Dave), Angela Brokow (Jeremy), John William Neeley V, and Rebecca Brady (Nate); and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sara was predeceased by her sisters, Clara G. Everett and Geneva D. Gillespie.
Memorials may be made to the S.C. Alzheimer’s Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210.
